PROCESS
Scanning & Digitization - Documents and Microfiche
ArchiveForge specializes in the delicate preservation of aging document collections by avoiding abrasive, high-capacity scanners in favor of gentle, hands-on digitization through overhead/planetary capture stations for fragile records. ArchiveForge transforms paper and microfiche records into secure, searchable digital collections while preserving the structure and integrity of the original files. Our document digitization process includes careful preparation, high-quality scanning, OCR, metadata capture, file organization, and quality assurance so records can be located quickly and used more effectively. We work with everything from routine office files to fragile historical documents, photographs, reports, bound books and mixed-format collections, using the capture method best suited to the condition of the material. The result is a clean, organized digital archive that improves access, supports records management, reduces reliance on physical storage, and prepares information for modern document-management and cloud environments.
ArchiveForge deliverables for digitized records include:
-
Searchable PDF/PDF-A
-
OCR
-
CSV metadata manifest

Film and Slide Conversion

ArchiveForge converts 35mm photographic negatives and mounted slides into high-resolution digital images, preserving aging photo collections before they fade, deteriorate, or become damaged. Our dedicated film and slide scanning equipment captures individual frames digitally, allowing collections to be organized, indexed, and preserved for long-term access.

Cassette Digitization
ArchiveForge Cassette digitization service starts by playing the original tape on a quality cassette mp3 conversion deck and capturing the analog audio into a digital format. Before transfer, the tape is inspected for damage, mold, sticky mechanisms, or degraded tape, and the deck is cleaned and calibrated so the recording is captured as faithfully as possible.
At the same time, the digital audio can be run through an AI speech-to-text system to create a transcription. The AI identifies spoken words and create searchable text tied back to the audio.
An ArchiveForge digitized cassette would produce:
-
a MP3 of the original audio
-
a full searchable transcript
-
keywords, names, dates, and subjects extracted as metadata
